When talking about Florida Gator quarterbacks, you probably immediately think of Tim Tebow. The legendary quarterback was a part of two national champion teams, starting for one, and brought home the Heisman trophy in 2007.
In 2024, the Gators signed 5-star DJ Lagway, who hoped would become a legend one day like Tebow. Recently, the past and present of Gators football have met and taken a photo that could go down in college football history.

Tim Tebow and DJ Lagway Unite for Legendary EA Sports CFB 26 Moment
At an EA Sports College Football 26 cover shoot, Tebow and Lagway posed for a photo that highlighted the past and present of Florida football.

Lagway, who started eight games for the Gators as a true freshman, is hoping to become the next legendary Gators quarterback and got off to a great start. In games that Lagway didn’t start last season, the Gators were 2-5, but in games that he was the starter, Florida went 6-1.
If he can continue that kind of success, he could be the best quarterback Florida has seen since the legendary Tebow. While it’s an amazing photo, that could end up being historic, it begs the question of what Tebow was doing at the EA CFB 26 cover shoot?
Could EA Be Making a Past and Present Cover For EA Sports CFB 26?
There have been rumors of numerous EA CFB 26 covers and who might be the face of the new game, but, interestingly, Tebow was at the photo shoot as he hasn’t played college football in well over a decade.
He could’ve been there for media purposes, but is it possible that we could be getting some sort of “legends edition” cover that would feature college football greats like Tebow?
Tebow was the cover of EA’s old college football game back in EA NCAA Football 11, and fans have long been clamoring for EA to honor some of the college football greats that missed the opportunity to be on the cover during the game’s 10-year hiatus.
Tebow, who works for ESPN’s SEC Network, could have been there for media purposes, but he is wearing Florida gear in the photo with Lagway, which only further insinuates that he could be featured on some sort of cover.

We’ll know the answer soon, and EA should be dropping the cover any day now as the game drops in July, but either way, it’s a cool moment for Gators fans to see Lagway and Tebow together.
