“Raiola Punching Air”: Fans Troll Texas Tech’s Latest Transfer Portal Addition For Patrick Mahomes Name Drop

Quarterback Brendan Sorsby, after announcing his decision to leave the Cincinnati Bearcats to join the January transfer portal last month, has finally found his next destination.

After being on the watchlist of a lot of programs and weighing his options carefully, Sorsby has officially committed to the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

However, according to Texas Tech booster Cody Campbell, Sorsby, while committing to the program, called him alongside NFL star and former Texas Tech alumnus Patrick Mahomes, telling them he’s going to win a natty, aka a national championship, with the Raiders.

“He just called me and Patrick Mahomes to tell us he’s coming to win a natty!”, Campbell told On3 sports whilst announcing Sorsby’s commitment.

This has prompted a lot of fans on social media to mercilessly troll the Raiders and Sorsby with a plethora of comments on Instagram.

Sorsby Set to Become College Football’s Highest-Paid QB

Part of Sorsby’s decision to join Texas Tech could very well be motivated by financial incentives. Despite reportedly garnering interest from teams like LSU and the Miami Hurricanes, the star quarterback is set to become one of the highest-paid college football players after inking his new deal with the Red Raiders.

As reported by On3, quarterback Brendan Sorsby is set to receive roughly $5 million from the Texas Tech Red Raiders for the 2026 season, making him the highest-paid quarterback in CFB.

Sorsby’s reported deal with the Texas-based program is significantly higher than the likes of quarterbacks Carson Beck and Darian Mensah, who transferred from Georgia and Tulane to join Miami and Duke, respectively, having earned $3.5 million and $4 million each in the 2025 season.
