Nebraska Cornhuskers quarterback Dylan Raiola emerged as one of the best young QBs in college football last season. As a freshman, Raiola completed 275 of 410 passing attempts for 2819 yards and 13 TDs. Despite attention from other teams after the season, he did not enter the transfer portal and stayed in Nebraska.
Throughout his career, Raiola has talked about Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes as his role model. At the Big Ten media days on Tuesday, he spoke about his relationship wth Mahomes, comparing it to the one Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan had early in Bryant’s playing career.
“What Kobe did to Mike, that’s kind of what it is for me to Patrick,” Raiola said.

While Raiola emphasized that he is not comparing himself to Kobe Bryant, many fans still reacted negatively in the comments of the video on Instagram.
“Weird as hell,” one fan wrote.
“Does it bother him? He asked for it ! Only way he can get attention is pretending to be mahomes,” one fan commented.
“If he was good like Pat it would be cool…but he isn’t,” one fan added.
Fans continued to react in the comments. Many even pointed out that Raiola has gone as far to emulate how Patrick Mahomes looks, down to his hairstyle.

Patrick Mahomes Spoke About His Relationship with Dylan Raiola Last Season
It is not a one-way relationship between Dylan Raiola and Patrick Mahomes. Early last season, in September, Patrick Mahomes spoke about working out with Raiola in the offseason. He spoke about how he appreciates that someone looks up to him in that way and he is happy to help pass on his knowledge to the next generation of great players.
Mahomes even reflected on his childhood and how he idolized MLB player Alex Rodriguez. However, he did joke about how stepping into a mentor role did make him feel a little old.
