‘So Unfootball Like’ – Fans Rip Folsom Field Facelift 2 Months After Deion Sanders Tied Change to College Football Playoff Push

Colorado’s Folsom Field has undergone some changes, with a new turf field among the many changes to its facilities. However, not many were quite fond of these changes, especially regarding the new turf field, with many fans saying that the Buffaloes should have stuck to grass, while others said it would not be good for the sport.

Fans went to the comments section of the X post regarding the new-look Folsom Field, though fans were not having it.

“Ugh. Back to turf. So unfootball like,” one fan commented.

“Grass is the only acceptable playing surface. Downgrade, imo,” another fan noted.

“Lol congratulations. You are the only school dumb enough to go from real grass to turf. Enjoy the knee injuries!” one commenter claimed.

Meanwhile, another fan pointed out that Sanders should know better, as he was injured in 1998 after suffering from “Turf Toe.”

“I’m sure it’s much safer now that it’s plastic instead of natural grass…🙄,” a fan pointed out sarcastically.

However, there were also some commenters who were happy with the changes to Folsom Field.

“people complain about field turf, but the field turf holds up and it’s green all year long and when it rains or snows, it doesn’t tear up,” one person said.

“Looks nice after getting rid of the 90’s Astro turf. Did good CU,” another person replied.

These comments came two months after Sanders claimed that the Folsom Field’s change from natural grass to artificial turf for next season was because he wants the Buffaloes to make the College Football Playoffs.

“We plan on making it to the playoffs,” Coach Prime said. “We don’t want to play on a frozen tundra.”

Why Colorado Switched to Artificial Turf For Folsom Field

Colorado is one of the coldest areas in the country, and while many fans prefer natural grass, actually maintaining an entire football field of it for an entire season can be challenging, especially in the high-altitude winters that the state is known for.

The team used to have an astro turf field, and this was when the Buffaloes had much success. In addition, replacing the field with turf did not cost the University of Colorado that much, as it was estimated to cost just over a million dollars. In addition, the field is expected to last for a long time, around 12-15 years.
