Penn State Fans Rejoice as Suprise James Franklin Firing Stuns College Football World: “Thank God, He Sucks”

ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported that Penn State’s head coach, James Franklin, has been let go. The shocking move comes just six games into Franklin’s 12th season leading the Nittany Lions.

With the news, fans took to X feeling ecstatic about Franklin’s dismissal.

“Thank God. He sucks”, stated a fan.

“Losing to UCLA and Northwestern was the final straw”, said a fan.

“We did him a favor. Now, he can spend more time with the family now especially with the holiday coming up!”, remarked a fan.

“LETS GOOOOOO!!!!!!! Let the 10 year rebuild begin”, commented a fan.

“One of the worst to ever do it”, stated another fan.

“I can’t believe they actually did it. This is the new page in the Penn state book they’ve been talking about”, said a fan.

“Many Penn State fans are collectively rejoicing”, pointed out a fan.

    “About time”, remarked another fan.

Franklin’s exit follows a disastrous start to the 2025 campaign. The Week 7 loss to Northwestern dropped Penn State to a shocking 0-3 record in Big Ten play.

Terry Smith Steps In as Interim Head Coach Amid James Franklin’s Firing

This is rather shocking considering the past season of the program. Earlier in the season, Penn State was No. 2 in the AP Top 25.

Saturday’s loss to Northwestern was the final straw. It marked the second straight week the team was stunned as a favorite of at least 20 points. Just two weeks prior, the Nittany Lions suffered a shocking upset at the hands of previously winless UCLA on October 4. The team also dropped their Big Ten opener against Oregon in double-overtime. This trio of losses completely derailed a season with championship expectations.

Associate head coach and cornerbacks coach Terry Smith will serve as the interim head coach in Franklin’s absence and could continue to serve as their head coach if Penn State choose not to hire a replacement for this season.
