The Week 0 opener of a new season of college football isn’t going as planned for Kansas. 20-year-old running back, Dylan Edwards, injured his ankle on a first-quarter punt. He was seen receiving treatment from the training staff on the sideline.
As per Pete Nakos of One3 Sports, Edwards’ left ankle was taped up as he was being attended by the training staff. An injury in the opening quarter of a season was bound to get some reactions from fans online.
“Dylan Edwards hurt his pride more than that ankle. Have some heart brotha suck it up and move on from the mistake,” a fan WROTE.

College football fans have been waiting with bated breath for a new season. And now that it’s here, they’ve had a heartbreak in the opening game itself. A fan who had placed a bet shared his reaction:
“First bet in 2 months and Dylan Edwards gets hurt! Good to be back.”
“Everybody bet Dylan Edwards overs and he gets hurt muffing the first punt of the game. Classic,” a fan WROTE.
“Dylan Edwards first appearance muffed punt, immediately pretends he’s injured, yes I bet him for anytime TD … college football is back !” A fan WROTE.
“Nothing says football is back like losing a parlay in the first quarter cause Dylan Edwards gets banged up on a muffed punt 😂” A fan WROTE.
Some fans also speculated that Edwards might be faking the injury.
“Dylan Edwards faking that injury man lol,” a fan WROTE.
We will have to wait for further updates to see if this was a minor injury or if Edwards’ season is in danger before it even began. It’s heartbreaking to see him go down in the opening game like this because he was really pumped before the game.

Dylan Edwards posted a message on Instagram hours ago
The game between the Kansas State Wildcats and the Iowa State Cyclones is taking place at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland. Needless to say, there was a lot of attention on the game as it marked the start of a new season.
Despite the pressure, Edwards was confident in his preparation for the game and the season. About 20 hours ago, he posted a picture of himself on his Instagram story with a motivational caption, showing that he was ready.
“Ready for whatever come w it,” he wrote.

Other than his own confidence, the team also had a lot of faith in Edwards. Offensive coordinator Matt Wells predicted that this could be the breakout season for Edwards. That confidence was rooted in what they saw from Edwards in practice.
Unfortunately, before he could make his mark in the opening game, let alone the season, Edwards had injured himself.
