Alabama assistant head coach and offensive coordinator JaMarcus Shephard recently inked a five-year deal to be Oregon State’s new head coach.
Shephard’s arrival at Oregon State comes in the backdrop of the program trying to fill their vacant head coach position, as Oregon has been on the lookout for a new head coach ever since they fired Trent Bray in October this year.
Shephard’s departure from Alabama saw many fans react on X, talking about the Crimson Tide’s head coach, Kalen DeBoer’s, possible departure from the program amidst rumors linking him to different programs.

Meanwhile, JaMarcus Shephard has been around the college football circuit for quite some time now. He started off as a quarterback and wide receiver coach at the Western Kentucky program back in 2011. Since then, he’s coached the likes of Washington, Washington State, Purdue, and Alabama.

DeBoer’s Current $87 Million Alabama Contract Runs Through 2031
Despite the Crimson Tide’s successful campaign this year, DeBoer has been heavily linked with Penn State as their next potential head coach to fill in for Penn State’s former head coach and current Virginia Tech head coach, James Franklin.
If the DeBoer-Penn State deal does go through, the Nittany Lions may have to get out a big paycheck to lure DeBoer out of his current $87 million contract that runs through 2031.
DeBoer is currently in his second year as Alabama’s head coach after replacing Nick Saban in 2024.
The Crimson Tide are currently 9–2 overall and 6–1 in SEC games heading into their Iron Bowl Auburn game this Sunday.
