Lane Kiffin can’t stop trolling Hugh Freeze. The Ole Miss coach took a shot at Freeze over the latter’s recruitment woes on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, with his post drawing several reactions from college football fans.
Kiffin posted a video of himself fishing while out on a boat with an American flag over the weekend. He tagged Freeze’s X account in his post, seemingly reminding the Auburn coach of his difficulties landing the big fish with his recruits.
Fans took to X to react to Kiffin’s post, which has already received more than 1,200 likes.
“u fishing for recruits?” one fan asked.

“Lane loves to chirp the people he doesn’t have to play during the season,” another fan commented.
“I see lane is still salty Auburn passed on him,” one fan noted.
Other fans mentioned Freeze’s golfing in their comments.
“Are you better at fishing than he is at golfing?” one fan posted.
“Cool, lane likes to fish and Hugh likes to golf. Nothing more to see here folks,” another fan shared.
“Can’t hide money! Also, Freeze won’t see this because he’s golfing,” one fan joked.
AL.com reported that Freeze has posted 11 golf rounds since the start of June. His regular trips to the golf course came under fire after several blue-chip prospects decommitted from Auburn last month.
According to On3, the Tigers are ranked 72nd in the nation in terms of recruiting class for 2026.

Lane Kiffin’s Ole Miss and Hugh Freeze’s Auburn Battle It Out for Top Prospect Jase Mathews
Lane Kiffin and Hugh Freeze continue looking to strengthen their respective lineups, with Ole Miss and Auburn among the leading candidates to land four-star wide receiver Jase Mathews.
SI reported that Mathews visited Auburn on June 6 and was impressed with what he saw. Landing Mathews is a must for Freeze after top wide receiver prospects Devin Carter and Denairius Gray decommitted from the Tigers.
Mathews posted stellar numbers in his junior year at Greene County High School, catching 68 passes for 1,138 yards and 15 touchdowns. His performances caught the attention of several teams, including LSU and Texas A&M. Mathews also visited those two schools last month, but Ole Miss and Auburn remain the favorites to secure the young star’s commitment.
