After Miami stunned Ohio State in the College Football Playoff quarterfinal, NFL legend Michael Irvin was probably one of the happiest men on the field. Before logging a Hall of Fame career with the Dallas Cowboys, Irvin played for the Canes from 1984 to 1987.
Irvin was present at AT&T Stadium in Arlington to witness Miami crush Ohio State 24-14. Throughout the game, the former wide receiver was visibly emotional and animated. After the final whistle, he removed his belt and used it in a celebratory moment, swinging it at a Gatorade jug as part of his reaction to the upset.
The clips of the same are doing rounds on the internet as fans echoed Irvin’s emotions in their reactions.

“That’s how you claim a belt,” one fan wrote.
“Mike is a wild man but I personally LOVE IT!” another reacted.
“Man came to win and take belts,” one fan added.
“College football never fails to remind us why it is pure chaos,” one fan added.
“MIchael irvin is wild lol,” one fan wrote.
“Irvin celebrating like the game just became a personal highlight reel, who else felt that energy through the screen?” one fan asked.

Michael Irvin’s Miami Turned The Odds Against Ohio State
Michael Irvin’s Miami were -10 point underdogs entering his matchup. Add that they may have only played the College Football Playoff because the ACC was without any true representation.
Despite the odds against them, Miami played like a champion. They jumped to a 14-0 lead, thanks to a 72-yard interception return for a touchdown by Keionte Scott. They pressured Ohio State’s quarterback Julian Sayin into making wrong throws, and they never let the Buckeyes’ rushing game catch fire. In the meantime, Miami’s defense was on point and their offense also made sure they made their drives count.
Ohio State feared a comeback in the fourth quarter when they got to the redzone to make it 17-14. However, in the final minutes of the game, Miami added a rushing touchdown and also made good on the extra point.
Now they will face either Georgia or Ole Miss in the CFP semifinal.
