Fans think Lane Kiffin might be the happiest man after the Ole Miss Rebels went down against the Miami Hurricanes in the College Football Playoff semifinal. The Fiesta Bowl matchup saw Kiffin’s former program suffer a 31-27 loss, thereby ending their spirited playoff run.
Kiffin, who left Ole Miss to become LSU Tigers head coach afte the last regular season game, posted a cryptic tweet, showcasing the LSU program history and wrote:
“Going to be an amazing day!!! 🐅🔥”
While the meaning behind the post is not clear, fans believe Kiffin was trying to taunt Ole Miss with the rich history of LSU football.
“Your definitely happy right now,” one fan wrote.
“Looks like Lane Kiffin is absolutely thrilled Ole Miss lost. Man’s smiling like he just found a loophole in the transfer portal,” one fan commented.
“And you didn’t even bring up Ole Miss. I knew you could do it – eventually,” one fan added.

Meanwhile, some fans thought it was Kiffin’s indication to say that it’s going to be blast this transfer portal.

Lane Kiffin’s LSU Tigers Needs QB After Garrett Nussmeier Exhausted Eligibility
Garrett Nussmeier has exhausted his eligibility and the quarterback will now declare for the 2026 NFL draft. This has left LSU with a big void to fill at the quarterback position, which they are thinking to address with the help of transfer portal.
Apart from Nussmeier, quarterback Michael Van Buren Jr., who stepped in as replacement, is departing LSU for South Florida. Redshirt-freshman quarterback Colin Hurley has also left the program and entered the portal.
This has left new head coach Lane Kiffin with some work to do. There are several notable quarterbacks in the portal, including Arizona transfer quarterback Sam Leavitt. Other portal quarterbacks are being pursued or evaluated as Kiffin looks to restock the position quickly.
Meanwhile, Kiffin’s former program Ole Miss is also facing uncertainity at the same position, with quarterback Trinidad Chambliss appealing for an extra season of eligibility. While the NCAA has verbally denied to give any sort of waiver, the program has stepped in to help the quarterback get his eligibility.
