The University of Oklahoma announced that Jim Nagy will be their next general manager as of today, and Sooners fans sound energized by the hire.

Jim Nagy Brings Plenty of Experience
Nagy’s resume is an impressive one that includes scouting roles in the NFL with the Seattle Seahawks, Kansas City Chiefs, New England Patriots, and the Washington Redskins. He’s accumulated four Vince Lombardi trophies and six Super Bowl berths in his time in pro football.
Since 2018, he has been the executive director of the Senior Bowl. Under Nagy’s stewardship, the Senior Bowl has produced more than 100 drafted players each year, representing more than 40 percent of those NFL draft classes, according to Soonerssports.com. Last year, it had 110 selections, including 45 top 100 players and 10 first-round picks.
“This is a new era in intercollegiate athletics at one of the greatest college football programs in the country,” Nagy said in a statement. “The legacy of excellence that precedes my arrival is a testament to the leadership at OU and the university’s commitment to execute at a championship level.”

Nagy Could Help Get Oklahoma Back on Track
One key part of Nagy’s role will be handling roster management and talent acquisition, which has not been an issue for the Sooners.
His experience as a scout should help a Sooners program that moved into the SEC this past season and had a weak 6-7 record. They lost 21-20 to Navy in the Armed Forces Bowl and finished in the bottom four of the SEC along with Auburn, Kentucky, and Mississippi State.
