Jayden Fielding once again hurt Ohio State in an important game. The kicker missed an important field goal in the second quarter of the game against Miami in the College Football Playoff quarterfinal at the Cotton Bowl.

The 49-yard field goal attempt denied Ohio State from making a splash as they entered halftime down 14-0.

Fans slammed the kicker, knowing he missed out on a clutch moment.

“Jayden Fielding’s career as a kicker if officially over. No chance anybody wants this kid,” a fan commented.

“Ohio State: “let’s get some points on the board” Jayden Fielding: ” another fan uploaded a meme.

“jayden fielding is so a** bro,” one fan reacted.

“Should’ve benched Jayden Fielding but we are afraid to hurt people’s feelings,” one fan wrote.

“I’m sorry, Jayden Fielding should be benched,” one fan reacted.

“Jayden Fielding should not get abuse from fans. Jayden Fielding should never, ever, started a game at kicker for Ohio State. Those two things are completely compatible the fact he’s the kicker here is an absolute indictment on this pathetic coaching staff,” one fan commented.

“Jayden Fielding wears #38 because that’s his maximum range meanwhile Miami kicks a 50 yarder like it’s nothing,” one fan added.

Jayden Fielding Costed Ohio State Big Ten Championship As Well

Jayden Fielding was put in a tough spot in the Big Ten championship game against Indiana. He missed a 27-yard attempt with 2:48 left in the game, contributing to Ohio State’s narrow 13-10 loss.

Fielding’s latest field goal miss is a cause of concern for the program. His career strike rate has over 80% accuracy, but in tough moments, he has gotten nervous.

Despite missing the field goal in the Big Ten championship game, head coach Ryan Day confirmed that while Fielding will remain as the team’s starting kicker, there had been a competition in practice with backup kicker Jackson Courville.

“[Jackson Courville] kicked in practice during this time,” Day told reporters. “We’re gonna go with Jayden this game, but [Courville has] had an opportunity every day in practice to kick. We’ll keep a close eye on it, but we’re gonna go with Jayden to start the game.”

It remains to be seen how much Fielding’s latest missed field goal will cost Ohio State.
