    Colorado Buffaloes cornerback Colton Hood recently announced through his social media account that he will transfer to the Tennessee Volunteers. However, this commitment has sparked a debate on the internet, with football fans expressing mixed reactions. The college football player stated on his X (formerly Twitter) account, “Let’s do it vol family #GBO #Hoodera thank you Jesus!!”

    Hood, a three-star prospect by the recruiting services during high school, previously played for the Auburn Tigers, where he played four games as a true freshman in 2023. He was also redshirted after the season. The Georgia native was targeted by Tennessee soon after he entered the transfer portal, as per a report in On3.

    Colton Hood’s Tennessee Commitment Sparks Debate: Was Leaving Colorado the Right Call?

    Colorado Buffaloes fans had huge expectations from Colton Hood as he was a potential replacement for Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter.

    However, the cornerback will be contributing to Tennessee instead of becoming the starting CB for Deion Sanders’ team. Following this, fans on the internet are now expressing their mixed feelings. 

    A user believes that coach Prime would have helped him get better with the squad if he had stayed at Colorado instead of transferring to Tennessee. The account wrote: “Bad decision, young man. Prime would’ve gotten you developed better.” 

    Meanwhile, this user has something positive to say. The user stated, “Future 1st round pick, go be great!” 

    Another user who believes the transfer favors the player wrote, “The great decision, young man.” 

    Another wrote, “Tennessee got a GREAT one, so pissed we lost him.” 

    Lastly, an upset Colorado fan wrote, “This hurts. We will be ok on the field. We can replace anyone. But this was family. This hurts our soul. Go be a great young man.”

    Hood was a redshirt freshman with the Buffalos and played 13 games in the 2024 season. The player started one game that year. The former Tigers CB concluded his campaign by recording 24 total tackles, eight third-down stops, six pass breakups, and two interceptions. He additionally registered one fourth-down stop and one tackle for loss.

    Hood moved to Colorado as an undergraduate transfer and was rated .8600 as the No. 905 ranked player overall by 247Sports.
