Fans believe Miami Hurricanes freshman defensive lineman Donta Simpson’s decision to enter the transfer portal may have some behind-the-scenes tampering involved. The Hurricanes are in the middle of their playoff run and they recently defeated the Ohio State Buckeyes in the Cotton Bowl to enter the College Football Playoff Semifinal, where they’ll play either Ole Miss or Georgia.
The former three-star recruit was ranked 562 overall in the 2025 cycle. He recorded four tackles this season.

The news has shocked some fans, as some of them made conspiracy theories behind the surprising exit after just one season.
“Someone definitely tampered because he was in the rotation and possibly starting next year…,” one fan wrote.
“Im starting to really dislike the portal and the rules behind it mane,” another added.
“He’s a true freshman playing on the best D-line in the country this doesn’t make sense to me . Tampering the only thing I could think of to make a kid want to leave under these circumstances,” one fan suggested.
“Maybe the staff advised him to make this move. They may see something we don’t get to see with him. I’m just speculating,” one fan added.
“He must dont like the coach or something because why,” one fan predicted.
“Dnt let the front door hit u on the way out Smdh go canes 🟧🟩” one fan mocked.
“The people talking s*it probably never even smelled a field. Sit yall soft ass down fr…how tf do yall have so much opinion on someone else’s decisions ???” one fan asked.

Miami Hurricanes Transfer Portal Movement
Several Hurricanes players have or are expected to enter the NCAA transfer portal despite the team doing well in the ongoing college football playoffs.
Donta Simpson and redshirt junior safety Markeith Williams have entered the transfer portal. Moreover, according to On3, sophomore wide receiver Ny Carr, redshirt freshman defensive lineman Daylen Russell, and junior wide receiver Ray Ray Joseph are expected to enter the portal in search of new opportunities.
All these players were in their early years at Miami, which means they were not an integral part of the team, but still they are getting older and would like to get a starting position somewhere else.
It remains to be seen if more names start to hit the portal after Miami’s playoff run comes to an end.
