‘Long Overdue!’ — Fans Celebrate Indiana’s Surprise Revival of Hoosier the Bison Mascot

College football is known for many traditions across every team and school in the country. Some are super notable such as the Penn State “White Out” Game, the Florida Gators fans singing “I Won’t Back Down” by Tom Petty to start the fourth quarter, or the Georgia Bulldogs having their actual bulldog, Uga XII, on the sidelines, and many more.

One of Indiana’s traditions is Hoosier the Bison. In 1965, the Hoosiers announced they would have an official Bison mascot for the school and its sporting events. The tradition began due to the fact that bison would walk through the area that is now Bloomington, Indiana. Now, it seems IU is bringing the mascot back to the turf.

Indiana Hoosiers Bring Back Hoosier The Bison

After the student body had back-and-forth meetings with the university, they agree upon a deal to bring back Hoosier the Bison.

In the video, once given the official approval, the student congress passed a bill to bring their mascot back and continue the tradition and excellence of Indiana University.

The video ended confirming that Hoosier the Bison will be back in Bloomington, Indianathis fall for HC Curt Cignetti’s second season. This adds some excellence and excitement to an already historic athletic program.

The Hoosiers football team won for the first time since 2020 this past season, 11-2. What is even more impressive is that they did it with head coach Curt Cignetti in his first season with the program.

That 11-2 record was good enough to get them into the College Football Playoffs. Despite losing in the first round, this was still a very shocking and successful season for the Hoosiers.

Hoosiers Fans And Students Ecstatic For Mascot Return

It is always a good thing when traditions and history continue in college football, especially when it involves your team and/or the school you attend.
