Florida State might be about to pull off an unexpected upset against Ty Simpson’s No. 8 Alabama in Week 1 of college football. Halfway through the third quarter, the Seminoles are comfortably leading the Crimson Tide 24-10 at Doak Campbell Stadium.

The preliminary score is shocking considering that the Tide was a two-touchdown favorite coming into the game. Florida State is also coming from a disastrous 2024 season, in which they had a record of 2-10. However, the team looks like an entirely different one with quarterback Thomas Castellanos leading the offense. Castellanos transferred from Boston College over the offseason and brought in one and a half seasons of experience as a starter with him.
Some fans seem to think they know the problem: Ty Simpson. Simpson is making his debut as Alabama’s starting quarterback this season.
“Can we bench ty simpson and put in keelon please 😭😭😭” Begged one fan
“Bench Ty Simpson lord have mercy” Complained another one
“I’ve seen enough, Bench Ty Simpson please.” Said yet another fan
“Ty Simpson gone end up on the bench ASAP 🤣🤣”Joked someone
One person had a whole plan to revamp Alabama.
“First thing imma do is bench ty Simpson and never put ryan wiliams at the slot again and maybe not run a fuck ton of inside run plays our guys are pretty fast id look to do some outside run plays get williams more involed and send kalen debor to china” Was one fan’s plan
Some fans are asking for the freshman Keelon Russell to take over.
“Alabama got a BLACK 5 STAR DUAL THREAT QB ON THE BENCH FOR TY SIMPSON??? YEAH FIRE THE COACH AT THIS POINT NICK SABAN WOULD OF NEVER EVER SMH” Said a fan of Keelon Russell

Ty Simpson’s numbers against Florida State so far
Ty Simpson has so far thrown for 181 passing yards, with one touchdown pass and no interceptions. He has completed 16 out of 27 passes, for a completion percentage of 59.2%.
Simpson has actually thrown for more yards than Thomas Castellanos. The Seminoles quarterback has recorded 152 passing yards, with no touchdown passes or interceptions. However, he has been far more accurate than Simpson, completing nine out of 12 passes for a completion percentage of 75%. Critically, Castellanos has also added 64 rushing yards, with one touchdown. Simpson has only nine rushing touchdowns.
Alabama’s running game has been almost nonexistent, with 57 rushing yards to Florida State’s 161. The Tide has also failed to convert on third-down occasions, with five successful conversions out of 12 attempts. The Seminoles have had the same number of third-down conversions, but they have found themselves in that situation only eight times
