Will Campbell just revealed a game-day superstition that echoes one of Patrick Mahomes’ most famous habits, and fans are buzzing.

Ex-LSU Star Will Campbell Reveals Superstition That Matches Patrick Mahomes
New England Patriots fans hope that Campbell will be able to keep promising young passer Drake Maye upright this upcoming season. The now-former LSU Tigers offensive tackle, taken No. 4 overall in the 2025 NFL Draft, said he’s willing to die to keep defenders from reaching his quarterback.
Campbell recently admitted that he’s superstitious, with an unconventional clothing ritual on game days.
“Every Friday — well, now, it’ll be Saturday — I eat the same thing, from dinner, breakfast, lunch, and pre-game meal every day,” Campbell said in a video posted to the NFL on ESPN Instagram account on Friday.
“I wear the same underwear under my pants since my sophomore year of high school. They’re barely hanging on, but I can help them work. I’m very superstitious in, like, my pre-game routine, so I have a way that I go about it every time.”
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has the same superstition. He wore underwear during his first season, and his team finished 10-6.
“I threw them on that first season (and) we had a pretty good season that season,” Mahomes said during a 2023 edition of “ManningCast.”
Mahomes clarified that he typically washes his underwear regularly. If his team is enjoying a streak, he gives himself some liberties.
“I only wear them for gameday, though, so they’re not too worn down,” Mahomes said. “They’re not these nasty (underwear). I clean them.”
No matter Campbell’s wardrobe choices, the Patriots might have themselves an elite blocker to help pave the way for their offense. He made a name for himself in Baton Rouge and aims to continue his success with Mike Vrabel’s team.
“He changed the culture the day he walked into the room,” LSU offensive line coach Brad Davis told Patriots.com. “It was his commitment and devotion to his craft but also pouring into his teammates, as well.”

“When you see this kid out there on the practice field, he’s your best player, but he’s practicing and pushing himself harder than anybody else around him. He re-established the standard in the room.”
Davis predicted that Campbell will “be an All-Pro for a long time.” Let’s just hope that his underwear holds up for the same duration.
