Arch Manning still has at least a year before he faces questions at the NFL Scouting Combine. However, his former Texas teammates are already confident he will eventually make it to the league. Among those speaking highly of him is former Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers, who shared his thoughts at the 2025 NFL Combine.

Quinn Ewers on Arch Manning’s Potential and Work Ethic
Manning’s standout moment came in a game against UTSA. He became the only FBS or NFL quarterback in the last 25 years to throw a touchdown pass over 75 yards, run for a touchdown over 65 yards, and throw another 50-yard touchdown pass in the same game. Ewers acknowledged how having Manning in the quarterback room kept him sharp.

“It says in the Bible, ‘iron sharpens iron,’” Ewers said. “So, it was good for me and him to kind of get to work together. And we both are competing for the same job, but us being pals off the field was good for us as well.”
Quinn Ewers, now preparing for the next step in his career, didn’t hold back in praising Arch Manning. When asked about his former teammate, Ewers talked about Manning’s dedication and ability to rise to challenges.

“He’s gonna be a great player,” Ewers said. “He’s a hard-working kid. I think that he has some traits that I have as well. He’s definitely got poise and composure, and I think that he’s ready for any moment that arises because he sat behind me and he saw how I did it. And then obviously he’s going to have his ways that he’s going to want to do it.”
Manning spent last season as a redshirt freshman, playing when Ewers was sidelined with an injury. In those two starts, Manning showcased his talent, finishing the season with 939 passing yards, nine touchdowns, and a 67.8% completion rate.
Despite his family’s rich football legacy, he worked to carve out his own identity. Wide receiver Matthew Golden noted, “He acts like a walk-on. He has a story. He’s trying to make a name for himself.” Golden added, “He can spin the ball real well. He can run the ball, too. I feel like there’s nothing Arch can’t do.”
With Ewers heading to the NFL, Manning is expected to take over as Texas’ starting quarterback in 2025. His teammates are confident he will rise to the occasion.
Ewers believes Manning’s time on the bench prepared him for what comes next.
“I wouldn’t trade any of that,” Ewers said. “Because it’s the reality of the position. There’s always going to be a big name in the room or around the room. So, I’m glad that he was a part of our team, and I’m glad that I had to hear about it as well.”
As Manning steps into the spotlight, all eyes will be on him. If his work ethic and talent match the expectations set by his teammates, Texas could have another star under center.
