Oregon wide receiver Evan Stewart is feared to miss the entire 2025 season after suffering a significant knee injury believed to be a torn patellar tendon, according to multiple reports, including On3 and CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz.
The senior pass-catcher, who transferred from Texas A&M last offseason, was preparing for a key role in the Ducks’ offense after bypassing the 2025 NFL Draft.

Sources indicate Stewart’s injury occurred earlier this week, and while further testing is underway, the expected recovery time ranges from three to 12 months, depending on the severity. The setback comes as a major blow to an Oregon team that entered summer workouts with high expectations following a 13-1 campaign and Big Ten championship in its debut season in the conference.
Stewart made an immediate impact in 2024, finishing third on the team with 48 catches for 613 yards and five touchdowns. He was expected to become Oregon’s top receiving option after and was ranked No. 73 in On3’s list of Top 100 college football players for the upcoming season and was the most experienced returning receiver on the roster.
Originally a Five-Star Plus+ recruit out of Frisco (Texas) Liberty, Stewart was the No. 8 overall prospect in the 2022 cycle per the On3. He spent two seasons at Texas A&M, recording 649 receiving yards as a freshman and 514 yards with four touchdowns in his sophomore year before arriving in Eugene.
With Stewart sidelined, the Ducks will lean on a group of returning talent and new faces to fill the void. Veterans Justius Lowe and Gary Bryant Jr. bring starting experience, while Florida State transfer Malik Benson is expected to contribute. Five-star freshman Dakorien Moore, the No. 9 player in the 2025 class and top-ranked wide receiver by 247Sports, could also take on a prominent role.
Stewart, who missed Oregon’s Rose Bowl loss to Ohio State due to a back injury, has a redshirt year available and may use it to preserve eligibility and prepare for the 2026 NFL Draft.
