The wait is finally over. The season of College Football is here, and the Kansas State Wildcats will go against the Iowa State Cyclones in the season opener. But this is not going to be the traditional start to the football season. Here’s everything you need to know about it:

When Will Lee Corso’s Last College GameDay Be?
For decades, Lee Corso has been the soul of College GameDay. For over 30 years, he has made the College GameDay experience memorable for millions of fans with his iconic catchphrases. Now, a legend is headed toward retirement.
On August 30, when the Ohio State Buckeyes will play against the Texas Longhorns at the Ohio Stadium, that’ll mark the end of Corso’s time on GameDay. The 90-year-old will take charge on ESPN for one last time and then, we’ll collectively mark the end of an era.
To honor the legend, ESPN aired a one-hour special on Lee Corso on Friday Night titled “Not So Fast, My Friend: A Lee Corso Special.” It will re-air on Saturday at 1 AM and 8 AM on ESPN2. In case you miss the re-air, it’ll be available to stream on demand on ESPN+.

While nothing could fill the void after Corso leaves, fans can rejoice in the memories through this special and fitting tribute.
Is College GameDay Going to Ireland in 2025?
The Week 0 clash between Kansas and Iowa will be at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland. So, there’s going to be a slight change in ESPN’s College GameDay schedule this year. Instead of going on-air in Week 0 from Ireland, GameDay will be in action from Week 1.
Fans would’ve preferred to kickstart the new season with the beloved ESPN show in Dublin, but it’s understandable why they went the other way. The hectic schedule would’ve been made worse by the time it takes to reach Dublin.
Where Is College GameDay Heading Next Week?
It’s not going to be a long wait for the fans of college football and GameDay. College GameDay opener will take place in Columbus, Ohio, on August 30 for the game between Ohio State and Texas.
The GameDay coverage will begin at 9 AM on ESPN with Lee Corso, Nick Saban, Kirk Herbstreit, Rece Davis, Desmond Howard, and Pat McAfee as the on-air analysts. Despite the usual excitement, it’s going to be a bittersweet moment for fans as it’ll be Corso’s last run with the sport.
He has been instrumental in popularizing football and is one of the pioneers of the sport. Corso played for Florida State from 1953 to 1957. The following year, he joined Florida State as an assistant coach.
Corso’s last head coaching stint was with the Orlando Renegades in 1985. Two years later, he joined ESPN as an analyst for its Saturday College GameDay. Now, the iconic career comes to an end as a new college football season begins.
