Former NFL player, director of player personnel, and current ESPN College Football Analyst Louis Riddick completed an interview for a general manager position in the NFL Thursday afternoon.
New York Jets Complete Interview with ESPN College Football Analyst Louis Riddick for Vacant GM Position
Two days after serving as the color commentator for ESPN’s production of the Fiesta Bowl between the Penn State Nittany Lions and Boise State Broncos, Riddick has completed an interview with the NFL’s New York Jets for their general manager position.
Riddick currently serves as an NFL and College Football Analyst for ESPN, while appearing on the main set for ESPN’s NFL Draft production since 2016. He joined the company in 2013 as an NFL Front Office Insider.
Drafted in the ninth round in 1991 by the San Francisco 49ers as a safety, Riddick compiled 143 tackles and 2.0 sacks in seven seasons.
Following his playing career, Riddick served ten years as a pro scout and in the front office as director of player personnel for both the Philadelphia Eagles and the now-Washington Commanders.
The Jets general manager job was formerly held by Joe Douglas before his firing earlier this season. Former Jets head coach Robert Saleh was also fired as the organization is finishing up a disappointing 2024-25 campaign; their ninth straight season with a losing record.
The next GM for the Jets will have to answer numerous questions — namely, the future of 41-year-old quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
It’s unclear whether the newly hired GM will have a say in the next head coach of the Jets, as they’re also announcing the completion of head coaching interviews.
With past experiences in the front office, as a player, and analyst, Riddick has vast experience in many different aspects around college football and the NFL, making him a strong candidate for the job.
Other candidates that have reportedly been interviewed for the position include former Atlanta Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff and former Tennessee Titans GM Jon Robinson. More candidates are expected to be announced.
