Elijah Sarratt has been one of the most consistent offensive weapons for the Indiana Hoosiers this season. The wide receiver has been at the center of the team’s passing game, producing solid numbers week after week.
As the Hoosiers prepare to face the Penn State Nittany Lions today, one major question stands out: Will Sarratt be there for his team when they take the field?
According to ESPN’s latest report, Sarratt’s availability will be a game-time decision. The star receiver has been dealing with a hamstring issue that forced him to exit Indiana’s last matchup early. The injury occurred during the Hoosiers’ Week 10 contest against Maryland.
Sarratt left in the first quarter after just nine snaps. It was later confirmed to be hamstring tightness, something the coaching staff wanted to handle carefully. The timing of the injury has raised concern among Indiana fans, especially with the Penn State matchup coming up quickly after that game.
The team has labeled him day-to-day, meaning his recovery and warm-up performance before kickoff will decide whether he suits up. Hamstring injuries can be tricky for wide receivers who rely heavily on burst and acceleration, so the staff is being cautious.
Sarratt had reportedly been managing some discomfort for nearly two weeks before the Maryland game but continued to play through it. This time, however, the coaching staff pulled him early to avoid making things worse.
Since then, he’s been limited in practice, and the Hoosiers have not made any guarantees about his return. The expectation is that the final call will come just before kickoff against the Nittany Lions. If Sarratt misses the game, it will be a significant loss for Indiana’s offense.

Elijah Sarratt’s Streak Ended Due to Injury
Before his recent setback, Sarratt had built an impressive run of consistency. He entered the Maryland game riding a 46-game streak with at least one catch in every appearance. That streak was the longest active one in the entire FBS at the time.
Unfortunately, the injury ended it, as he did not record a reception before leaving the field. The streak reflected more than just durability. It showed how dependable Sarratt had been throughout his college career.
Head coach Curt Cignetti described the injury as minor but emphasized the need to make the right decision for Sarratt’s long-term health. The team will continue to evaluate him leading up to kickoff, with hopes that the hamstring issue doesn’t linger beyond this week.
For now, Indiana’s fans will have to wait until game time, which is only hours away, to know whether their top receiver takes the field.
