Dylan Raiola’s Future Clearing as One School Drops Off Transfer Portal Radar

On Monday, Dylan Raiola confirmed that he was entering the transfer portal after two years with the Nebraska Cornhuskers. The 20-year-old reposted ESPN’s Pete Thamel’s graphic on his Instagram story to let the fans know about his plans.

Since then, there have been a lot of discussions about the teams that Raiola can join next. Several teams have come up in those discussions, including Georgia, Alabama, and Oregon. Recently, Pete Nakos checked one team off the list.

During a conversation with Josh Newberg, Nakos discussed the significance of having Raiola in the transfer portal. Raiola has long been compared to Patrick Mahomes, primarily due to their physical similarities, but there are also notable similarities in their playing styles.

That connection has made fans speculate that Texas Tech could be Raiola’s next stop so he can fully embrace the Mahomes narrative. The Chiefs’ superstar played for the Red Raiders from 2014 to 2016. As per Nakos, that’s not a possibility.

“I know everyone likes to make the Patrick Mahomes comparisons and stuff,” Nakos said. “I don’t expect Texas Tech to be a factor here in this one.”

Nakos isn’t putting his money on Oregon being a factor either. He believes these programs are in the mix right now, but when it’s time for Raiola to join, they’ll take the backseat. Nakos said that Oregon is more concerned about keeping Dante Moore.

However, if Moore decides to leave and puts his name up for the NFL Draft, then the Ducks will have to look around for suitable replacements. Even in that scenario, Nakos isn’t sure how high up Raiola sits on the Ducks’ priority list as their next potential quarterback.

Matt Rhule Wished Dylan Riola Well for His Future

Raiola’s decision to enter the transfer portal didn’t come out of nowhere. There were rumors about it in the weeks leading up to Monday, and still, when he made it official, it was shocking for many fans and analysts.

Rhule recently commented on Raiola’s decision to enter the portal and said that he wishes him well for his future.

“If he needs a fresh start I’m going to pray that he finds the right place and that he has so much success,” Rhule said. “With that being said, there’s a lot of great QBs out there and a lot of guys who want to play at Nebraska.”

In his two seasons with Nebraska, Raiola led the team to a 13-9 record. His time this season was cut short after he picked up a season-ending injury at the beginning of November during a game against USC.
