Dylan Raiola Bids Farewell To Nebraska With 2-Word Reaction, Days After Announcing Commitment To Huskers

It’s transfer portal season, and we’re seeing ‘BREAKING NEWS’ flashing on every insider’s social media accounts. An hour ago, Dylan Raiola joined the growing list of players pledging to enter the portal when it officially opens in January.

There were only rumors about Raiola being willing to enter the portal, but the 20-year-old quarterback recently confirmed it via an Instagram story. He also left a two-word message, making the news official.

ESPN’s Pete Thamel was one of the first to break the news. He posted a graphic on his Instagram profile with the caption:

“Breaking: Nebraska quarterback Dylan Raiola intends to enter the NCAA transfer portal.”

Moments later, Raiola reposted the graphic on his Instagram story and wrote:

    “God’s Story.”

It’s worth noting that he shortly deleted his IG post, but there are plenty of screenshots of the same being reposted everywhere.

The former five-star recruit spent the last two seasons playing for the Cornhuskers. He was the centerpiece of Matt Rhule’s plan, and they were successful in that rebuilding process, making their first Bowl game appearance since 2017.

In 22 games for Nebraska, Raiola had 4,819 yards and 17 touchdowns, completing 69.1 percent of his passes. Raiola’s 2025 season was cut short after he suffered a broken right fibula in November, playing only nine games.

Still, he managed to stack up 2000 yards with 18 touchdowns, completing over 72% of his passes. With that, his college football journey with the Cornhuskers comes to an end. What remains to be seen is where he will end up next.

While his next destination isn’t confirmed yet, Pete Nakos of On3 has reported that Texas Tech isn’t going to be a factor in Raiola’s portal recruitment.

Matt Rhule Addressed Dylan Raiola’s Transfer Rumors

The reason why the news is more shocking for Nebraska is that only a few weeks ago, Rhule had addressed it. During a press conference, the head coach was asked to comment on the transfer portal rumors, and he stated that he didn’t know about it.

Rhule claimed that he didn’t see the CBS Sports report that revealed Raiola’s plan of entering the portal when it officially opens.

“I haven’t seen that report,” Rhule said. “I haven’t seen that, so I don’t know anything about that. I would never get up here and talk about a player. I love Dylan like I love all my guys. He’s in there doing treatment right now. So I don’t know about that.”

Now, Rhule will have to find a suitable replacement for his former quarterback who can churn out big numbers and help bring Nebraska back to relevance.
