Kansas State running back Dylan Edwards is not shying away from the attention as the Wildcats gear up for their highly anticipated Week 0 matchup. The Kansas State star put an Instagram story with a statement that made fans excited for Saturday’s game.
Standing confidently on the football field, Edwards posted the five-word message:
“Ready for whatever come w it.”
Edwards has every reason to be confident going into this marquee matchup. The versatile back wrapped up the 2024 season in stellar fashion, and he was named the Rate Bowl MVP in the performance that announced his emergence as a serious threat in the Big 12. Those moments of delivering under pressure seem to have prepared him for the stage of going international.
Edwards’ timing of the message could not be better. With DJ Giddens in the mix, Edwards is stepping up as the primary ball-carrier at a Kansas State team ranked 17th in the country, and the Wildcats will have a dynamic playmaker to compete for a Big 12 title.

Edwards To Play Important Role as Kansas State Eyes Big 12 Championship
Offensive coordinator Matt Wells isn’t shy about his expectations for Edwards this season. The coaching staff thinks Edwards could have a breakout season, and Wells specifically called him a “very natural receiver” for the Wildcats’ offensive attack. That’s a lot of faith from the coaching staff regarding what they’ve witnessed Edwards do in practice and in limited action.
Saturday’s opponent provides quite the challenge for Edwards and company. Iowa State comes into the game 22nd in the country, and they have one of the best pass defenses in the nation from the 2024 season. The Cyclones won last year’s meeting with this team 29-21, and they have five of seven in this series with Matt Campbell as the head coach.
The 12:00 p.m. ET kickoff at Aviva Stadium provides Edwards with the first opportunity to be the primary back for the Wildcats in a matchup between two ranked teams.
The stakes couldn’t be any bigger for this Week 0 clash. Both teams have realistic aspirations of winning the Big 12 Conference, and they carry a ton of weight in College Football Playoff discussions with wins over ranked opponents early in the season. Edwards knows that a good performance on this stage could mean everything for Kansas State’s whole season.
