The Penn State Nittany Lions are on a collision course with destiny in 2024—but first, they’ll need to get past the Ohio State Buckeyes in Week 10. Fans held their breath last week when starting QB Drew Allar exited the game against Wisconsin, later reappearing on the sidelines with a knee brace.
Fortunately, the morning of game day brought a ton optimism: Allar was not even placed on the injury report for the Nittany Lions.
What Happened to Drew Allar?
While it wasn’t immediately obvious, it became clear after halftime against Wisconsin that something was off with Drew Allar. Alert fans spotted a knee brace on his left leg, raising questions, though many were unaware he’d been hurt.

The ESPN broadcast didn’t highlight it during the first half, only showing a clip of Allar warming up with the team, chatting with head coach James Franklin, and then heading off the field. Diagnosed with a left knee injury reportedly sustained “late in the first half,” that’s all we knew until midweek.

However, after Friday’s media session and sources close to the program, it looked incredibly promising that Allar was on track to play against OSU.
Given the morning update, Allar appears to be a full go for the Buckeyes.
At first, he was listed as a game-time decision, but Allar was officially removed from the Penn State injury report and was set to take the start for Penn State at noon on Saturday.
In spite of all this, head coach James Franklin stated that both Allar and his backup, Beau Pribula, got ‘a ton of reps with the starters’ this week during practice. And according to On3’s Pete Nakos, both quarterbacks are expected to see action.
“Drew Allar is not on Penn State’s injury report, he’s a full go. Sources have told (On3sports) that backup Beau Pribula is expected to be used, too.” Nakos tweeted.
Who Is Beau Pribula?
Sophomore QB Beau Pribula replaced Allar at the start of the third quarter against Wisconsin and the Nittany Lions were held scoreless on offense during that frame. He led two fourth-quarter scoring drives and was aided by a defensive pick-six in the third to hold on to the victory over Wisconsin.
