Drew Allar’s Season-Ending Injury Brings Penn State AD Pat Kraft To Tears: “Love The Kid”

Penn State went from being the No. 2 team in college football to uncertainty, especially after their Heisman candidate and star quarterback Drew Allar abruptly ended his season due to injury. He was tackled by two defenders and was carted off the field late in the fourth quarter, leading to the Nittany Lions losing the game to Northwestern last Saturday, 22-21.

Soon after the injury, and his football team facing a rocky road ahead without their top star, Penn State University athletic director Pat Kraft addressed the situation in a press conference and it got emotional.

“Drew will be done for the year,” he told reporters. “I do not release that information until I clear it with the kid and the family. I talked to Drew, but I had not heard back from the family before I came in here.”

He then went on to talk about how Allar and the rest of his teammates worked hard and admitted to the quarterback getting a lot of criticism, as many felt that this year’s Nittany Lions were overhyped. However, he still defended Allar and professed how much he loves him.

“I love the kid,” he stated.

After the loss to Northwestern, Penn State has now lost three straight games and are about to continue the season without their top player. Allar limped off the field but was soon carted off to the locker room. He had 137 passing yards during that game. To top things off, head coach James Franklin was also fired shortly after that loss to Northwestern.

Who Will Replace Drew Allar As New Penn State Starting Quarterback?

As Penn State moves forward after firing its head coach and losing its starter quarterback to injury, the Nittany Lions must now fill a void that will be hard to replace, and that os the starting quarterback position left vacant by Allar. The question is, who might be filling those gigantic shoes?

Redshirt freshman Ethan Grunkemeyer, the team’s QB2, is expected to take up the mantle, with expectations high, especially with the team having one of its worst skids in recent history. He will need to lead the team effectively, especially with morale being low over at the school.
