Donovan Edwards, the Michigan Wolverines running back, is one of the top names in the 2025 NFL Draft. Edwards is widely regarded as a top prospect after a successful career with the Michigan Wolverines. The 22-year-old is listed at 5’11” and weighs 215 pounds. However, Edwards lacks the ability to lead an RB room that many would expect from a Day 2 prospect.
Although the running back improved his receiving ability last season, he isn’t as nifty in the backfield to create individual moments of brilliance. However, Edwards can run through spaces created by his team’s offense. He might not become a dominant power back, but the Michigan product should be a valuable part of a running back rotation.
1. Denver Broncos
The Denver Broncos managed to make the playoffs last season with rookie quarterback Bo Nix. However, they need to improve after finishing 16th in the NFL with 112.2 rushing yards per game, and Edwards could be the missing piece of their puzzle. Edwards could be a focal point of the Broncos’ offense alongside Sean Payton.
2. Atlanta Falcons
The Atlanta Falcons are in need of a running back, and Edwards could be the perfect fit for the team. With Tyler Allgeier and Bijan Robinson leading the way, but depth concerns still present, Atlanta might look to take a chance on the 22-year-old.
3. Cleveland Browns
Nick Chubb is testing free agency, which means the Cleveland Browns will be in need of a running back. Edwards could be the perfect replacement and could even complement Chubb if they manage to retain him. Coach Kevin Stefanski has experimented with multiple running backs in his offense in the past and could do the same with Edwards.
4. Chicago Bears
Coach Ben Johnson values having multiple running backs, a strategy that could boost a Bears offense that finished 25th in rushing last season. A player like Edwards would help relieve pressure on quarterback Caleb Williams and complement the duo of D’Andre Swift and Roschon Johnson.
5. Pittsburgh Steelers
The Pittsburgh Steelers are also one of the potential landing spots for Edwards. The 22-year-old would fit the Steelers’ offense perfectly as a backup to Jaylen Warren and Najee Harris.
