LOOK: President Donald Trump Mistakes Former Auburn HC Tommy Tuberville For Alabama Fan In Hilarious Mixup

Does Donald Trump knows that Auburn and Alabama are different schools? President Trump gaffes are well known by the public. He often mixes facts, forgets common knowledge, or exagerates situations. Think of when he asked the President Joseph Boakai of Liberia how did he speak such good English, seemingly ignoring that the foreign leader is native speaker.

However, President Trump could be forgiven for not knowing that fact. After all, he isn’t a Liberian. But it seems these gaffes extend to facts of America’s pop culture. Trump spoke on Tuesday at the White House, with Alabama Senator Tommy Tuberville in the press conference with him. Tuberville was once the head coach of Auburn.

It seems that the President didn’t know that Tuberville was the coach of Auburn or that he confused the school with its in-state rival Alabama. At one point in his appearance, Trump said:

“Tommy Tuberville, who’s a great coach. And I won’t say anything about what happened with Alabama football this weekend. But you’re not used to that, right?”

The Senator was quick to point out to the President, that Auburn had indeed won:

    “Auburn won.”

Trump accepted the fact and moved on:

“Auburn won, that’s right. So you’re happy.”

Nick Saban reacts to Alabama’s defeat at the hands of Florida State

Another important reaction to Alabama’s defeat over the weekend, came on Monday night when Nick Saban gave his opinion on the situation. During the pregame show ahead of TCU vs. North Carolina on ESPN, the former Alabama coach said the following:

“Obviously, for me and for a lot of the Bama fans, the disappointment that Florida State dominated the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball,” Saban said. “But the good news is every team has the best opportunity to improve going in from Week 1 to Week 2. Really going into the season, you don’t really know what you have for sure as a coach and you’re always very anxious about what might happen in the first game.”

He did recognize that the team has a lot of improvement to do and that a Week 1 performance isn’t necessarily the final barometer of a team’s potential. So it’s too early to write them off just yet.
