“Selling His Soul to the Devil”: Fans React As Ex Gators Star DJ Lagway Dabs up FSU HC Mike Norvell During Latest Trip

As DJ Lagway is well aware, another college football season has come and gone. While eyes have mostly transitioned away from the gridiron, they have now focused on the new battle being waged in the transfer portal.

Players, frustrated with how things have gone, like DJ Lagway, are seemingly testing the waters to find new life elsewhere. The latest apparent instance of this has set off college football fans.

In a series of photos posted on X by Florida State reporter Chris Nee, Lagway was seen meeting in person with FSU’s head coach Mike Norvell.

The images resulted in a tsunami of posts from fans, with many negatively reacting to the development.

“Selling his soul to the devil 😈,” one fan stated.

“This is objectively hilarious,” another declared.

“Is he finally signing up to throw the ball to the Gators?” another joked.

More fans reacted, including one who vented about the ability for Lagway to turn his back on the college that gave him his initial shot.

“Mike got his hands out of his pockets YOU KNOW HE WANTS DJ LMFAO,” one fan posted.

“The transfer portal really has ruined college football. How are you just going to transfer to your teams biggest rival bc you underperformed & weren’t willing to compete?” another complained.

“Irrelevancy, dude held back Florida so much it’s insane. At what point are people gonna realize hs rankings don’t always pan out,” one vented.

FSU is guaranteed nothing with Tommy Castellanos coming off his fourth year. As such, bolstering the roster for 2026 and beyond makes sense. If Castellanos returns, as was indicated by a Dec. 5 ESPN report, Lagway will have to decide if he wants to hold the clipboard for a season before getting one or two years to put some NFL-prospect-level tape out.

DJ Lagway Ends 2025 Season On High Note

DJ Lagway’s final five games of the regular season were nothing short of disastrous, with a 1-4 run. However, Lagway managed to end the year on a high note against the Florida State Seminoles in a contest in which he threw for three touchdowns and an interception in a 40-21 win.

Of course, the showing could be a key reason why Mike Norvell entertained the visit. However, it is more likely that Lagway’s stellar high school history pushed the door open.

Now, one can only wait to see if Norvell will take the bait and sign up Lagway as a potential successor to Tommy Castellanos.
