Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith stands on the verge of making history in Super Bowl LIX. A victory over the Kansas City Chiefs would elevate him into an elite club of football legends.
He could become the fifth player ever to win a national championship, a Heisman Trophy, and a Super Bowl. To add to this achievement, he would be the fastest player to accomplish the feat by doing so in only seven years. Smith could also write his name in the Alabama-to-NFL-pipeline history book.

DeVonta Smith Chasing the Triple Crown
Smith has already built an impressive legacy. In 2020, he won the Heisman Trophy and led Alabama to a national title, recording 12 catches for 215 yards and three touchdowns in the title game. In Super Bowl LVII two years ago, he recorded seven receptions for 100 yards, but Philadelphia ultimately fell to the Chiefs.
But now, Smith gets another shot to join legends like Tony Dorsett, Marcus Allen, and Charles Woodson. If Philadelphia secures the win, he will be the first player in over a decade to capture this triple crown.
Speaking to NBC Sports Philadelphia, Smith acknowledged the magnitude of the moment. He emphasized his desire to inspire young athletes, showing them what dedication and perseverance can achieve.
Alabama’s Super Bowl Records on the Line
Beyond his individual quest, Smith has the chance to etch Alabama’s name deeper into Super Bowl history. If he catches at least four passes, he will surpass Tony Nathan’s 10 to become the Crimson Tide’s all-time leader in Super Bowl receptions.
He already holds Alabama’s record for the most all-time and single-game Super Bowl receiving yards.

Still, no Alabama player has ever scored a rushing or receiving touchdown in the “Big Game.” If Smith finds the end zone, he will be the first to break that barrier.
Additionally, Alabama currently has 31 Super Bowl receptions without a touchdown. If Smith records multiple catches without scoring, the school will surpass Michigan’s 34 for the most Super Bowl catches without a score.
Super Bowl LIX presents an opportunity for Smith to solidify his legacy. A victory will place him among football’s all-time greats and rewrite Alabama’s Super Bowl history books.
