Deuce Knight has decided to jump on the transfer portal after one disappointing season at Auburn. The coach who recruited him, Hugh Freeze, is no longer at Auburn, and Alex Golesh’s plans are unlikely to include him in the long term.

The former four-star recruit is one of the most coveted signal-callers in the market. He’s considered the fifth-best passer available. Surely, plenty of teams will try to snatch him, as he has a high development ceiling. Here are some options.

Top 5 Landing Spots For Deuce Knight
#5 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets had an unquestionable starting quarterback for the last three years in the form of Haynes King. He’s now on his way to the NFL, having won several major accolades in his final season. Backup Aaron Philo has entered the transfer portal, and now they need to find a replacement who can start immediately. Knight could be that player.
#4 Colorado Buffaloes
Deion Sanders’ Buffaloes had a rollercoaster season with the quarterback position in 2025. Kaidon Salter, Julian Lewis, and Ryan Staub all took turns at the starting spot throughout the year, but to no avail, as the Buffs finished with a poor 3-9 record. While Lewis was initially the program’s long-term solution, he left much to be desired. Bringing in the four-star Deuce Knight could introduce a positive competitive dynamic to the locker room ahead of the offseason.
#3 LSU Tigers
The LSU Tigers are in the middle of a rebuild spearheaded by new head coach Lane Kiffin. Their top priority at the moment is a new quarterback, as Garrett Nussmeier has no eligibility years left, and he’s going to the NFL. Knight has SEC experience, and he could work under one of the best offensive coaches in the nation. He fits Kiffin’s offensive dual-threat scheme, which he will likely import from Ole Miss.
#2 North Carolina Tar Heels
One thing was clear from Bill Belichick’s first year in charge of the Tar Heels. The quarterback position needs fixing, and Gio Lopez is not enough to take this team forward. Working under one of the most legendary head coaches of the 21st century could be enough of an allure for Knight. He would be a significant improvement from anything the Tar Heels had in 2025.
#1 Ole Miss Rebels
The Rebels were one of the teams that heavily chased Deuce Knight out of high school, but they lost the race to Notre Dame (he initially committed to the Irish) and then to Auburn. Now, with Trinidad Chambliss possibly out of eligibility (he could get a waiver for another year), the program is on the lookout for a new quarterback. Knight has plenty of eligibility left, and he would give Pete Golding plenty of time to mold the offense to his liking.
