“All Money Ain’t Good Money”: Denzel Washington Throws Shade at Jerry Jones Over Cowboys’ Super Bowl Drought

While he was on a recent episode of First Take, Oscar-winning actor Denzel Washington had a sharp jab at Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. He referenced the Cowboys’ lack of a Super Bowl victory in nearly 30 years, as he was there to promote his new movie.

“There’s box office, and there’s Oscars. Jerry, been a while, huh? Ain’t been to the show, you wouldn’t know. … Haven’t been to the show, so you wouldn’t know what it is to win … All money ain’t good money, Jerry.”

Washington, by stating he still loves the Cowboys, deflected the question back to his film by working in the tagline of his movie, “all money ain’t good money,” with the NFL mention. The jab at the Cowboys seemed to get a good reaction out of the crew as the panel laughed off the remarks.

The comments are made several weeks before the Cowboys kick off their 2025 NFL regular season against the Philadelphia Eagles. 2025 is a year that seems, once again, Jerry Jones will be under fire with regards to whether the Cowboys could finally end their Super Bowl drought.

Cowboys Enter 2025 Season With Longtime Core, Fresh Coach, and Difficult Schedule

The Cowboys reload in 2025 with a lot of the same core. QB Dak Prescott, WR CeeDee Lamb, and DE Micah Parsons will lead the way, although Parsons is still unsigned during training camp.

In 2024, Dallas fired its coach, Mike McCarthy, after posting a 7-10 record, and hired Brian Schottenheimer as his replacement. They included some great names such as George Pickens, quarterback Joe Milton III, and running back Javonte Williams. The Cowboys seem to hope the new additions will be able to revive their offense after finishing 17th in total offense in 2024 according to ESPN.

The 2025 schedule for the Cowboys does the team no favors according to ESPN who ranks it the fifth hardest. This season includes four home games at AT&T Stadium against non-division playoff teams such as the Green Bay Packers (Sept. 28), Minnesota Vikings (Dec. 14), Los Angeles Chargers (Dec. 21), and a Thanksgiving Day clash with the Kansas City Chiefs (Nov. 27). They also open up against the defending champion Eagles in week one.

The Cowboys seem to have their hands full as they likely will have to rely on the performance of their best players and the integration of a new coaching staff for a successful season. Will the year end in a long-awaited Super Bowl, or was Denzel Washington simply reading ahead?
