Hours After Demond Williams Announces Washington Decision, HC Jedd Fisch Makes Feelings Clear On QB

Washington Huskies coach Jedd Fisch has shared his thoughts about his starting quarterback finally making a decision on where exactly he wants to take his football career moving forward. On Thursday, Jan. 8, college football insider Nicole Auerbach shared a post by @UWAthletics on X/Twitter where she quotes a line from Fisch’s official statement.

Fisch’s statement tackles his most candid and real-time sentiments regarding sophomore Demond Williams‘ decision to return to the Huskies for the collegiate football campaign later this year. This comes just a couple of days after Williams said he intends to place his name into this offseason’s transfer portal in the hopes of finding a new team to play for in his junior year.

“Over the last few days, Demond and I have engaged in very honest and heartfelt conversations about his present and future. We both agree that the University of Washington is the best place for him to continue his academic, athletic and social development. I appreciate Demond’s statement. I support him, and we will work together to begin the process of repairing relationships and regaining the trust of the Husky community,” Fisch wrote.

To make matters even more polarizing, reports from four days before Williams’ transfer portal announcement said that he intends to stay with the Huskies after signing a new NIL deal with the program for a reported $4 million for one season of playing. With the legal parameters that surrounded his declaration to the transfer portal, Williams decided to rescind this initial move.

Moving forward, Williams might look to repair his relationship with coach Fisch and the rest of the Huskies program.
