Ex NBA Star DeMarcus Cousins ‘Sold’ by Deion Sanders’ Electric Recruiting Pitch After Colorado Return

Deion Sanders, the head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes, took to the team’s official Instagram account to release a passionate, fast-paced recruiting video that is certainly causing a stir on campus and in the world of sports.

“Recruits, recruits, recruits,” Sanders began, setting a commanding tone.

“Yes, it’s me. Yes me. I ain’t going anywhere. I am still here,” he continued.

“You know why? I am waiting on you. Waiting on mom. Waiting on pops. Waiting on UNC. I am waiting on grandad. I am waiting on whoever is handling things. I am waiting on you,” he further added.

The video, which showed Deion Sanders delivering a candid, personal message to future recruits, resonated well beyond the football world.

A viewer was even former NBA All-Star center DeMarcus Cousins, who commented:

“Sold me! I think I got some eligibility coach.”

Cousins enjoyed a long ride throughout his 11-year NBA career. Over 654 total games, Cousins averaged 19.6 points, and 10.2 rebounds, 3.0 assists per game, on 46% shooting.

Deion Sanders Transforms Buffaloes’ Culture Amid Roster Changes Ahead of 2025 Season

In his recruitment video, Deion Sanders encouraged all the young players, asking them to block the outside noise and focus on their craft. The Colorado head coach put a positive face on in spite of all the health ordeals he’s been through, stating :

“Stop believing them lies. They gonna talk because that’s all they know how to do. And guess what? God got me baby, and I want you. Aha, that’s right.”

The culture of the Buffaloes is changing dramatically under Deion Sanders. The 57-year-old has established little tolerance for unprofessionalism in all aspects related to his program.  Sanders views college football as a way to prepare young men for life after the game.

The picture for the 2025 season, however, is rather complicated. Colorado bounced back in 2024, with a 9-4 record and a bowl game, but they have a long way to go. Major players Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter are headed to the NFL, and there will be huge holes to fill.

There is excitement about new additions, most notably dual threat transfer Kaidon Salter from Liberty, and the commitment of top recruit Julian Lewis, who flipped from USC to Colorado, possibly giving Deion Sanders a potential quarterback duo for the future.
