Deion Sanders is heading into his third season with Colorado after spending the last two years with his son Shedeur Sanders as the QB1, while also having the previous year’s best college football player, Travis Hunter, who also won the Heisman Trophy, in his squad.
Coach Prime went 4-8 in his first season and finished the second one with an impressive 9-4 record.
Now that both Shedeur and Travis Hunter are off to the NFL, many analysts worry about the Buffaloes in 2025 and predict them to have a 6-win or so season.
However, Coach Prime did a good job at working the roster in a way that gives him a chance at having a good season, including a good quarterback room that consists of Kaiden Salter and JuJu Lewis, who is an ex-USC commit.
Talking about the quarterback situation at Colorado after naming Salter the QB1 ahead of the Georgia Tech game, Coach Prime stated on CBS on 29th August:
“Every position is a competition. There ain’t nobody that just has a kickstand down and just relaxes. Everybody has had to work to earn it week in and week out. But Kaiden has a ton of experience. He’s been under the lights before. He’s a dual-threat guy that can do some incredible things, especially when he’s on. Juju is going to get opportunities. We plan on implementing him in the game plan as well, but to start off with, it’s going to be Kaiden.”
Under head coach Jamey Caldwell’s guidance, Kaiden Salter passed for 5,887 yards and scored 56 touchdowns with just 17 interceptions. He also rushed for 2,013 yards and 21 touchdowns.
Salter also made noise during Liberty’s 13-1 win and earned a New Year’s Six Bowl birth in 2023, winning the C-USA Player of the Year in that year.

Deion Sanders Gets Real About Colorado Student Section’s Unique Tradition
Coach Prime’s effect on Colorado is not news to anybody; the ex Super Bowl champ got the Buffaloes back to life and made them relevant in the world of college sports, contrary to what it was before his arrival.
While Deion Sanders keeps surprising Colorado with new achievements, the student section also doesn’t fail to surprise him time and time again.
“The smell of w**d in the second quarter surprised the heck out of me. Like every game I’m like, ‘Dang.’ It seems like it’s like a ‘light-up’ quarter, you know what I’m saying? Like so is this the quarter that y’all chose?” Sanders told CBS Sports Colorado.
“Like, I’m serious, there’s a TV timeout — it never fails — and I’m like, ‘Wow, what’s going on?’ ’Cause you know I’ve never been high a day in my life, so that’s kind of new to me,” Sanders added
Colorado will kick off the 2025 college football season against Georgia Tech on Aug. 29.
