Deion Sanders Responds to Shannon Sharpe’s Take on Shedeur-Giants Report With a 4-Word Comment

In the aftermath of the 2025 NFL Draft, few storylines generated as much buzz as the reported pre-draft meeting between Shedeur Sanders and the New York Giants. The former Colorado quarterback, son of NFL legend and Colorado head coach Deion Sanders, unexpectedly slid to the fifth round after once being projected as a first-round talent.

Reports suggesting he “bombed” his interview with the Giants quickly circulated, with many speculating this contributed to his draft-day fall. When NFL Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe weighed in on the controversy, Coach Prime stepped in with a brief but definitive response that quickly made waves across social media.

‘Never Happened, My Brother’ — Deion Sanders’ 4-Word Instagram Clapback Sparks NFL Draft Buzz

The controversy began when Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer reported that Shedeur Sanders struggled during a pre-draft meeting with the New York Giants.

According to the report, the Giants presented Sanders with a playbook install containing intentional mistakes, which he allegedly failed to identify. When called out, Sanders was reportedly “pissed that they did that to him.”

Shannon Sharpe addressed the situation on his “Nightcap” podcast alongside Chad Johnson and Gilbert Arenas, explaining: “The Giants sent him plays to install, they intentionally put mistakes in, he didn’t catch the mistakes. They told him, he got upset that they didn’t tell him.”

While Sharpe somewhat defended the Giants’ approach as standard practice for evaluating quarterbacks, the story continued gaining traction until Deion Sanders himself intervened.

Responding directly to a clip of Sharpe’s comments, Coach Prime wrote four simple words: “Never happened my brother.”

This concise denial quickly went viral, challenging the media’s entire narrative surrounding his son’s pre-draft process.

Conflicting Reports and Shedeur’s Future with the Cleveland Browns

As the story developed, conflicting accounts emerged about what actually transpired between Shedeur Sanders and the Giants. Paul Schwartz of the New York Post cast doubt on the original narrative.

“What seems true is that there was no one incident or moment where the Giants soured on Sanders. That much-reported terrible Sanders meeting with head coach Brian Daboll? The one where Sanders was unprepared for an install test Daboll gave him and then balked at Daboll’s criticism? That is likely either untrue or overhyped. There was no ‘bomb’ meeting.”

This reporting aligned with Deion Sanders’ assertion that the incident simply “never happened” as described in widespread media accounts.

Despite the controversy and his unexpected slide in the draft, Shedeur Sanders now begins his professional journey with the Cleveland Browns.
