Deion Sanders’ Colorado Buffaloes had a breakout 2024 season, finishing with a 9-4 record. That was seen as a step in the right direction with the program’s long-term goals in mind. Unfortunately, what followed was a complete disaster.
The Buffaloes had a forgettable season in 2025. They finished 3-9, just one win in the conference, more home losses than wins, and without a single win in away games. But that’s not the end of their problems this season.
Understandably, the Buffaloes will have to move some pieces around and bring in new talent to stabilize the program. But it’s the talent entering the transfer portal that is posing the biggest threat.
The list is long and includes Alex McPherson, Omarion Miller, Tawfiq Byard, and Dallan Hayden, to name a few. In the midst of all the things that Coach Prime’s program is dealing with, he’s set to get a new boss in Colorado.
As per Ross Dellenger of Yahoo Sports, the Buffaloes are trying to sign Fernando Lovo as their next athletic director. The catch is that the deal will only be finalized if the UC Board of Regents authorizes it.
“Colorado is targeting New Mexico AD Fernando Lovo in its athletic director search, sources tell @YahooSports. No deal is finalized and UC Board of Regents must authorize any move. Lovo spent the last year at UNM after stints at Texas, Ohio State and Houston,” Dellenger wrote.

Lovo had joined the New Mexico program as their athletic director last year in November. Before that, he worked with the University of Texas and has a lot of experience in football operations roles.

Deion Sanders Squashed His Beef with Kevin Stefanski
For the first few months after Shedeur Sanders joined the Cleveland Browns, he wasn’t getting any time on the field. The Browns had multiple options at the quarterback position, and as a rookie, Sanders was being put on the backup list.
Around the same time, rumors started to emerge that Stefanski was intentionally trying to suppress Sanders’ career. The rumors also suggested that Coach Prime wasn’t happy with the way his son was being sidelined.
Before the rumors could go out of control, Coach Prime visited the Browns’ training facility to meet his son. During his visit, he also met Stefanski, and the two were seen having a conversation. That brief interaction refuted all claims about their potential beef.
Sander, on the other hand, got rewarded for his patience as the spot for starting quarterback opened for him. Since then, he has been putting up good numbers for an otherwise struggling team.
