Deion Sanders Dropped a Mysterious Hint Before $54M Colorado Deal

Deion Sanders just signed a five-year extension worth $54 million with the Colorado Buffaloes. The deal will keep Coach Prime in Boulder until at least 2030.

Throughout the offseason, many fans believed that since both of Sanders’ sons, Shedeur and Shilo, and star two-way player Travis Hunter were leaving Colorado, Deion might also leave. However, Sanders has now secured his role with the Buffs for the foreseeable future, and it looks like he hinted at it right before he signed.

Deion Sanders Hinted at Contract Extension on X

Just two hours before Sanders inked his mega-deal, he posted this on X (formerly Twitter).

Sanders appeared to hint that his job at Colorado was not finished and that he has much more to prove as the Buffs’ head coach.

In just two years with the Buffs, Sanders has already proven a lot. He was hired to Boulder after Colorado had one of its worst seasons in program history, going 1-11. Sanders brought in some big-time talent to Colorado when he got there and showed some improvement, going 4-8.

However, in 2024, after a full offseason of recruiting both high-level high school talent and talent outside the transfer portal, Prime led the Buffs to a 9-4 season, their best record since winning ten games in 2016. Despite that improvement, it would appear that Coach Prime is still hungry and intends to build Colorado into a powerhouse.

Once again, after the 2024 season, Sanders attacked the recruiting trail, flipping five-star quarterback Julian Lewis and one of the top-rated quarterbacks in the transfer portal, Kaidon Salter, from Liberty.

Sanders has consistently brought in some of the top classes in Colorado history, and if he continues to do that over the next five seasons, there’s no reason why the Buffs won’t see the college football playoff in that time.
