Deion Sanders has quickly become one of the best coaches in college football. The former Florida State legend and NFL Hall of Famer made Jackson State the best program in the country. He’s coming off a season where he led the Colorado Buffaloes to their first winning season since 2016.
Unfortunately, Sanders has reportedly been dealing with an illness that has led him to miss multiple days at Colorado. However, it would appear that the legendary coach is feeling better as his son Deion Sanders Jr. has provided an update on the illness.

As reported by ESPN’s Heather Dinich, Deion Sanders has been dealing with an “unspecified health issue,” which has led him to leave Boulder, Colo., and return home to his house in Texas.
Dinich also reported that it’s unclear when Sanders will return to Colorado for the team’s summer camp, saying, “A timetable for his return is unknown.”
However, in a YouTube live stream, Sanders’ son gave an update on his dad’s health, saying that the Colorado coach is “Feeling well.”

As Dinich reported, Sanders Jr. also said, “He’ll tell y’all soon enough what he’s going through, what he went through,” later adding, “When we get back to Boulder, I don’t know. I’m waiting until my dad leaves. When he leaves, then I’ll go. Until then, I’m going to sit here with him.”
While the illness is unspecified, it certainly does not sound good. If there’s one thing college football fans know about Sanders, then it is that he would not miss coaching the Buffaloes if it weren’t for a serious reason.
This is not the first time that Sanders has faced a serious health concern. Back in 2021, the former superstar cornerback had to have two toes removed due to blood clots. Then, in 2023, Sanders had to have another surgery on his leg due to more blood clots.
This illness has not been confirmed to have anything to do with the previous ones, and could be a completely separate issue.
One thing is for sure: No one is tougher than Deion Sanders. He will get back on the football field as soon as possible.
Sanders’ son provided some good news, and college football fans will be watching to see that the Colorado coach has a speedy recovery.
