Deion Sanders Offers Blunt 2-Word Response as Houston Stomps Colorado Defense in Massive 1Q Outing

Deion Sanders had two words for how the Colorado Buffaloes’ defense performed in the first quarter. In their Week 3 game against the Houston Cougars on Friday, the Buffaloes allowed 10 points to score.

Houston opened the scorecard with a 52-yard field goal by Ethan Sanchez. Three minutes later, the Cougars reached the endzone on Dean Connors’ four-yard rushing touchdown. Cougars were especially dominant in their run game when leading up the field.

After the first quarter, which saw Colorado trail by 10, head coach Sanders called his defense “hot garbage” during a sideline interview with ESPN.

Meanwhile, in the second quarter, with 5:40 minutes remaining, Colorado has added a touchdown score, but Houston has also added a field goal, making the game 13-7 in favor of the Cougars.

Deion Sanders Reveals His Feelings for the Game Against Houston

In the pre-game conference, Deion Sanders said he was expecting a sellout crowd at TDECU Stadium, which has a capacity of 40,000 people. He also called Houston “a tremendous recruiting ground.”

“I pray that it’s a sellout,” Sanders said. “We like to play in front of sellouts, although we don’t like to play evening games. But we’ve got to do what we’ve got to do.”

There were also concerns about who would be the starting quarterback between Kaidon Salter, freshman Julian Lewis, and Ryan Staub. Sanders refused to name anyone but said Staub did a great job in the Week 2 game against Delaware.

“I’m not confirming none of y’all… We ain’t like that. We have capable guys. Staub has been doing a phenomenal job … but I haven’t made that assessment and decision yet,” Sanders added.

Sanders also shared his respect for Houston coach Willie Fritz, saying:

“Remarkable career, unbelievable career what he accomplished at Tulane … God bless you, Coach. Love what you’re doing for all coaches … love the staff you’ve assembled there and what you’re building there.”

Colorado would like to win this game before returning home. After the game against Houston, Colorado is slated to welcome Wyoming in Week 4 at Folsom Field.
