Deion Sanders has announced the upcoming release of the “Love Letter to Connie” special sneaker collection in honor of his mother. The 57-year-old legendary cornerback has always been vocal about how much he loves and appreciates his mother, Connie Knight.
The Colorado Buffaloes head coach took to social media to make the announcement today. “They calling these Love Letter to Connie. That’s my mama if I didn’t know! My mama got her own shoes. I almost just Cussed. God is Incredible,” he posted on X.

The sneakers collection is a re-make of his iconic Nike Air Diamond Turf Max ’96 in an all-red color scheme, which symbolizes his love and respect for his mother. However, the elements of the design were intended as an homage to Deion’s remarkable NFL career and his mother’s impact on his life. The sneakers feature a bold red upper with white accents. They also feature Deion’s iconic “Prime Time” logo on them.

Deion has never missed the opportunity to appreciate his mother and shower her with love. The 57-year-old grew up under the wings of his mother, who supported him and guided him into legendary status in the NFL. Deion acknowledges that his life could have taken a different turn had his mother not been there to mold him into the man he is today.
Connie took it upon herself to raise Deion and his siblings after she divorced their father. Despite the numerous challenges she faced, she stood strong and worked tirelessly to remain a constant source of encouragement and support to Deion.
The insole of this all-red sneaker carries a heartfelt message: “Love Letter to Connie.” This sneaker goes beyond honoring his mother. It is a reminder of the vow Deion made to her in 1989 that she’ll never have to work again in her life once he turned pro.
Deion treated his mother to a relaxing trip at Lake Prime last month. “I wanted her to see how beautiful this view is and how peaceful it is outside. She moaned & groaned, but we made it a half a mile, which was tremendous for her,” he posted on social media about the trip.

The Nike Air Diamond Turf Max ’96 iteration, “Love Letter to Connie” is scheduled to be released on May 7, 2025. It is priced at $170 and will be available at SNKRS and other retailers.
