Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Deion Sanders and Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones have not had a face-to-face meeting. Rapoport went one step further and said he would be very surprised if such a meeting ever took place.
Deion Sanders Reunion With the Dallas Cowboys Seems Unlikely
“Nothing scheduled yet with Coach Prime. I would be very surprised, if something did in fact get scheduled,” Rapoport said. “But that won’t stop everyone talking about it until he signs a new deal with Colorado.”

Rapoport’s colleague at NFL Network, Jane Slater, doubled down on his comments and said Sanders’ contract extension with Colorado is not going well. He asked for more money for NIL and for his coaching staff, and Colorado has yet to approve either of those requests.
“One thing to watch following Jerry Jones and his initial discussions with Deion Sanders,” Slater wrote on X. “Two people with knowledge of the situation tell me Sanders approached Colorado AD Rick George Tuesday about additional money for NIL and his staff. He was met with resistance.
“The University of Colorado would neither confirm or deny the information when I reached out. Deion Sanders didn’t respond when reached multiple times for comment.”
Sanders became an overnight sensation when he arrived in Boulder two seasons ago. He led the Buffaloes to a 9-4 record and an appearance in the Alamo Bowl this year. Two of his recruits, one being his son quarterback Shedeur Sanders and Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter, will be top draft choices in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Coach Prime is also said to be linked to the Las Vegas Raiders opening. Sanders has said he wanted to coach both of his sons in the NFL. Shedeur is very high on the Raiders’ draft board. Shilo Sanders will be a Day 3 selection based upon his size and surname.
