Deion Sanders Jr. Gets 100% Real on Colorado QB Battle Between JuJu Lewis and Kaidon Salter Ahead Of 2025 Season

Deion Sanders Jr. shared his thoughts about the quarterback battle between Colorado stars JuJu Lewis and Kaidon Salter in the latest episode of “Politely Raw,” hosted by Adam ‘Pacman’ Jones and Evan Rosenblum.

Rosenblum asked Sanders Jr. about the players he believes are going to be standouts for Colorado in the upcoming season, following the departures of Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter. Deion Sanders’ eldest son mentioned offensive lineman Jordan Seaton as one to watch out for in 2025 before picking Colorado’s star quarterbacks Lewis and Salter.

“We got Kaidon Salter and JuJu (Lewis), of course. I don’t know who’s going to win that battle. They’re both pretty good,” Sanders Jr. said (timestamp 1:02:04).

Jones echoed Sanders Jr.’s sentiment, saying Colorado has a good quarterback battle at the moment. Colorado head coach Deion Sanders has not yet made the final decision on who will be the starting quarterback for the Buffaloes this coming season.

The position opened up after Shedeur Sanders joined the NFL. The Cleveland Browns selected him with the 144th overall pick in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Colorado’s Pat Shurmur Shares His Thoughts About Kaidon Salter and JuJu Lewis’ QB Battle

The race is on between Kaidon Salter and JuJu Lewis to be Colorado’s QB1 for the Buffaloes’ season-opener against Georgia Tech on Aug. 29. Colorado offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur shared his thoughts on their quarterback battle in a recent interview with CBS Sports.

“I call it quarterback development,” Shurmur said. “We’ll develop a plan, who plays and when, once we get to the game. But right now, as we go through the installations, we demand that they all learn everything that we’re doing. I see good progress each day.”

Shurmer added that both Salter and Lewis are “very smart guys.” He said Salter has the obvious advantage when it comes to experience, but they are “both doing extremely well.”

Salter spent four seasons with Liberty before joining Colorado through the transfer portal. He threw for 1,886 yards and 15 touchdowns with six interceptions for the Flames last season. Lewis, on the other hand, is an incoming freshman who recorded over 10,000 passing yards in his high school career.
