Coach Prime’s Son, Deion Sanders Jr. Drops Cryptic Message As Colorado HC Faces Backlash Following Georgia Tech Loss

Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders, also known as Coach Prime, received a lot of criticism for how he handled the team’s season opener on Friday. The team lost 27-20 to Georgia Tech, and Sanders was criticized for not using his timeouts in the final drive of the game. He appeared to waste time on the clock and limit what the Buffaloes were able to do on their final drive to try to tie the game by not calling timeouts.

While he has many critics, Coach Prime also has plenty of supporters. On Tuesday night, his eldest son, Deion Sanders Jr, dropped a cryptic message on X.

“‘Let my enemies be destroyed by the very evil they have planned for me.’ Psalms 140:9,” Deion Sanders Jr. wrote.

Coach Prime Defends Colorado’s Late Game Clock Management After Georgia Tech Loss

While many analysts and fans have been critical of Coach Prime’s clock management at the end of the Georgia Tech game, he sees it differently. After the game, Deion Sanders spoke about the loss and what he thinks went wrong.

“If we hit the darn plays, we wouldn’t be asking these questions,” Deion Sanders said. “We had the plays. We just didn’t make it happen.”

He then spoke to the media, doing a play-by-play of his decision-making on the final drive of the game.

“Do you call a timeout there? No, you’re right there. You don’t call a timeout there. You’ve got to go. You’ve got to go,” Deion Sanders said of the play with 1:07 left on the clock. “You’re running tempo.”

The Buffaloes managed to drive to the 50-yard line with three seconds remaining before attempting a failed Hail Mary on the final play of the game.

Coach Prime also defended his coaching staff. Notably, he told reporters that they did not lose the game because of coach Pat Shurmur or coach Robert Livingston. He believes several factors led to the Buffs’ loss.
