Colorado head coach Deion Sanders is backing safety Cam’Ron Silmon-Craig to earn a roster spot with the Jacksonville Jaguars after signing as an undrafted free agent. Silmon-Craig started all 13 games for the Buffaloes in 2024, notching a team-high 93 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, and returning a fumble 95 yards for a score.
Though considered undersized at 5’10”, 185 pounds, he garnered All-Big 12 honors for his physicality, football IQ, and competitiveness.

Deion Sanders Believes Jaguars’ Cam’Ron Silmon-Craig Will Prove Uncuttable
Sanders, who coached Silmon-Craig at both Jackson State and Colorado, is adamant the former CU safety will earn his place with the Jacksonville Jaguars after signing as an undrafted free agent.
“I just told a scout, he’s asking me about unsung heroes, I said ‘Cam’s the kind of kid if you allow him, if you draft him, he’s not going to get cut. He’s not going to allow you to cut him,’” Sanders said. “He’s going to play special teams, he’s going to do this, he’s going to do that, and he’s going to consistently show up on film.”

Silmon-Craig is a versatile defender who excels both near the line and in coverage. Though listed at just 5’10” and 185 pounds, he has built a reputation as a “downhill defender who punches above his weight class.”
In 2024, he led the Buffaloes with 93 tackles, added 10 tackles for loss, and delivered a highlight moment with a 95-yard fumble return touchdown. His performance earned him All-Big 12 recognition and cemented his status as a leader on the field.
Despite being overlooked in the draft, Silmon-Craig remains confident in his value.
“They got film at the facility, so they understand what I bring to the table on Saturday nights coming on Sundays,” he said. “They know who they can count on.”
His offseason has been focused solely on preparation.

“Just work and get better at football,” Silmon-Craig said. “Keep my mindset on being the best football player I can be.”
The Jaguars, known for finding talent among undrafted players, emphasize competition and depth. Silmon-Craig’s production, leadership, and ability to contribute on special teams give him a realistic path to the 53-man roster.
