Former Arkansas Razorbacks and current Washington Commanders defensive end Deatrich Wise Jr suffered what seems like a season-ending injury during the first half of his team’s Thursday Night Football encounter against the Green Bay Packers.
Early in the game, as he attempted to rush the Packers’ kicker, Wise Jr tripped over himself before a Packers offensive lineman fell over his back. In the process, one of his legs seemed to buckle and twist under the pressure of the opposing offensive lineman’s weight.
Scary: Commanders DL Deatrich Wise Jr. went down on the field after the Packers’ extra point.
He’s being carted off now and was face down with players around him. Appears to be a leg injury. pic.twitter.com/HShfRIUJ1o

He had to be carted off the field in the medical car. His teammates stood in front of the vehicle in disbelief for several minutes while he was treated by the team’s medical staff.
Saying a prayer for former #Patriots EDGE Deatrich Wise who went down during the #Commanders vs #Packers game🙏🙏🙏

While there hasn’t been an official statement by the NFL franchise, it seems pretty clear that he has suffered a severe lower-leg injury, which potentially affected his knee. He had already been dealing with a knee injury going into the encounter.
Wise was initially drafted by the New England Patriots in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft. He spent the period between 2017 and 2024 with them and recently arrived in Washington, D.C. as a free agent with a one-year contract worth $5 million. He won the LIII Super Bowl with New England.

The Green Bay Packers Lead The Washington Commanders In The Second Half
The game hasn’t gone the Commanders’ way either, with the Packers leading 17-3 halfway through the third quarter. Green Bay scored a touchdown in each of the first two quarters, while Washington was able to respond only with a field goal in the second quarter. The Packers did miss a chance of expanding their lead by seven points in the third quarter, stalling in the endzone and scoring a field goal at Washington’s four-yard line.
Jordan Love has been the star of the game so far, with 265 passing yards, one touchdown, and a 66.6% completion percentage. On the other hand, Jayden Daniels has been disappointing for Washington, with 68 passing yards and a completion percentage of 60%. He hasn’t thrown either a touchdown pass or an interception. He has been sacked twice.
