The Georgia Southern Eagles have been no stranger to accepting quarterbacks in the transfer portal. So far in 2023, that trend appears as if it’s not slowing down anytime soon as Davis Brin has committed to join the Eagles for this upcoming season.
Davis Brin Commits to Georgia Southern
Brin, a standout at Tulsa over the past three seasons, was largely seen as one of the top signal-callers still remaining in the transfer portal. A true gunslinger, Brin joins the Eagles after they saw former Buffalo QB Kyle Vantrease throw for over 4,200 yards in his lone season in Statesboro.
Living up to the name gunslinger, Brin dots the field with heroic shots and is no stranger to the highlight reel. However, Brin was also plagued with interceptions during his two seasons as the starter for the Golden Hurricane.
Brin threw for 35 touchdowns in two seasons as the starter while also throwing 24 interceptions.

Cutting down on the interceptions will be crucial to Brin’s success in head coach Clay Helton’s offensive system. After throwing for 25 touchdowns in five seasons at Buffalo, Vantrease more than doubled his career total touchdowns to 52 TD passes after throwing 27 this past season.
However, Vantrease also threw a career-high 16 interceptions, which more than doubled his career total to 29.
Still, Brin has shown terrific resolve and an ability to improve with each game. His gutsy performances are written in the Tulsa folklore, and his toughness was never in question with the Golden Hurricane.
Brin can hit every level of the field with his arm talent, and if his decision-making over the middle of the field improves, the sky should be the limit for him in 2023.
The Eagles will fly as Brin flies this fall, but if all goes to plan, the sky is truly the limit.
