On Tuesday, when Dave Portnoy reacted to the news of Taylor Swift’s engagement, he went straight for the jugular. The founder of Barstool Sports delivered an emotional message that celebrated the pop superstar while slamming Kanye West in the process.
“Alright. I am just taking the kids out for a walk on a Tuesday trying to cool down. I am in a fight with Ohio State, was i banned was i not banned, who’s telling the truth,” Portnoy began by saying.
“And then what happens? Taylor Swift engaged. Mother gets engaged (to) Travis Kelce. So happy for her, she deserves the world and love wins. All this petty rivalry, yeah I love football, i love the back and forth but let’s just remember love wins,” he added with genuine excitement.
Then came the knockout punch directed at West.
“So congratulations Taylor. Couldn’t be happier for you…..and just f**k Kanye, just f**k him. F**k you. She won, you lost. Loser.”

Portnoy’s animated defense of Swift highlights the general public feelings towards Swift and the mess West has made of his own history of animosity towards her. The feud goes back to the infamous 2009 and the MTV Video Music Awards when West crashed her acceptance speech.
They have shared moments of briefly resolving issues and going back to conflicts. Their biggest drama in 2016 regarding West’s lyrics pertaining to Swift in “Famous” and the involvement of Kim Kardashian contributed permanent scars to their relationship.
West reignited attacks against Swift on social media in a series of posts leading up to April 2025. His wording that was outrageous and counterfactual publicly increased the support for Swift and left him looking foolish.
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Announce Engagement With Romantic Garden Proposal
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce got engaged on Aug. 26, 2025 with a celebratory Instagram post. The romantic garden proposal photos included Kelce on one knee with Swift showing her gorgeous yellow gold diamond ring.
Their caption read, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” and it exemplifies their relationship. The announcement was sent out on social media and fans of the couple went wild for their milestone moment.

Taylor and Kelce began seeing each other in 2023 after the NFL star attended Swift’s concert of her Eras Tour at Arrowhead Stadium. The couple quickly began ranking as one of the most followed celebrity couples in recent memory.
