The comfort of streaming services made Dave Portnoy finally watch Sinners, which featured Josh Allen’s wife, Hailee Steinfeld. Portnoy, the founder of Barstool Sports and an avid Michigan fan, often speaks his mind on the internet.
After watching Sinners nearly four months after its release, he couldn’t resist putting up his thoughts on the movie. Portnoy took to X to berate the movie for being overrated and overhyped. It’s worth noting that Portnoy only tuned in because the movie he wanted to watch wasn’t available for streaming.
“I’ve heard all the hype about Weapons,” Portnoy wrote. “Planned my entire weekend around watching it. I didn’t realize it wasn’t available to stream yet. So I went with Sinners instead.”
After acknowledging that he was late to the party, Portnoy went on to unleash a barrage of harsh criticism on Sinners.
“I may be like 6 months late with this critique but that was one of the most overhyped overrated movies of all time. If you say that movie was great you have no movie credibility with me.”

Directed by Ryan Coogler, the movie starred Michael B. Jordan in dual roles, and it co-starred Hailee Steinfeld, Miles Caton, Omar Miller, and more. Sinners opened to a positive response from the audience worldwide.
It boasts a 7.6 rating on IMDb and 97% on Rotten Tomatoes. Those are, by any standard, great reviews.
But it’s cinema. It’s meant to be consumed by people differently. Portnoy just happens to be someone who didn’t like the movie. Or maybe, he didn’t see what the hype was all about.

Josh Allen does the most with the least help
Josh Allen has been in the NFL since 2018, with the team that drafted him, the Buffalo Bills. He is arguably one of the best quarterbacks in the league today, and his accomplishments prove it. He is the 2024 NFL MVP, two-time Second-team All-Pro, and three-time Pro Bowl winner.
Allen has also managed to win over some of the harshest critics in the business. In the last week’s episode of “First Take,” when Stephen A. Smith was asked, “Which AFC QB does the most with the least help?” He immediately picked Josh Allen.
“216 total touchdowns, passing, rushing, receiving, since 2020, that’s 36 more than anyone else during this time period, and most in a five-year span by any NFL player,” Smith said.
“This is who we’re talking about when we’re talking about Josh Allen. So, when I think about Stefon Diggs being gone, along with a couple other weapons. And then, you still find yourself in the AFC Championship game, you only throw six interceptions last year,” he added.

As difficult as it is to impress Smith, Josh Allen has managed to do it. And the analyst isn’t wrong in his assessment. Allen’s Bills aren’t a stacked team, and they often rank at the bottom of the table. Despite the limitations, Allen has thrived, proving that he does the most with the least help.
